Installing a bathtub: Plumbing Basics

Installing a bathtub is not exactly quantum physics, but it does require a bit of plumbing, carpentry and sometimes paving. Replacing an old bathtub with a new project is also a moderately difficult. If the old tub is truly accessible, the project can be done quickly, on the other hand if you have to remove the old bathtub and place a new one, the task is much more difficult. In each case, the project may be done by any man accustomed to housework, although it will need help to move the old tub and put the new. Make sure you know enough to do the job and you feel comfortable doing so. Instead of paying a contractor to do the project in half when it is best to use one before. Surely you need a professional plumber to make connections.

This article will help you install a new bathtub in your bathroom if you have already purchased the new bath and you do not need to change the arrangements of its water mains.

Their tools and materials should be:

  • A New bathtub.
  • Hammer.
  • A pipe wrench.
  • A lever.
  • Safety glasses.
  • A level.
  • Pliers.
  • An adjustable wrench.
  • Putty knife.
  • A screwdriver.
  • A chisel.
  • A tape measure.
  • Pipe caps.

Preparing to install.
First, the supporting frame provided with the bath should be installed (if required) according to manufacturer’s instructions. Then, put the keys to the cockpit. When you put the block of keys is important to ensure that the keys come with a plastic washer that sits between the tub and keys. In a plastic tub, it is also important to support a plate under the keys to prevent leakage over the bath. Put the keys flexible connectors at the end of the two keys by using two nuts, which sometimes come with the tub itself.

Install the filler plug seedling smearing around the exit of the pipe, and then pass the plug through the hole in the tub. Use the nut provided by the manufacturer to install the plug hole. Examine the plug hole to find an inlet near the overflow pipe.

Then, place the end of the flexible pipe connected to spill out spill. After that, the hole in the piping system should be spilled in the tub. Be sure to use all the washers that come with the tub. The tub should now be ready to be put in its final position.

Removing the old keys.
If you need to replace old keys with new ones as part of the installation, then the first thing you should do is disconnect the water supply. After doing so, turn the keys to drain any water remaining in the system. The process of removing the existing keys can be quite problematic because there are usually restricted.

Use a wrench or a special tool to loosen the nut that connects the water supply pipes with the keys. Have a rag ready to deal with the water that comes out of the pipes. Once the supply lines have been removed, use the same tool to loosen the nuts that hold the keys connected to the bath. You need to hold the keys to not turn false as you want them loose. Once the keys have been removed, the holes in the tub should be cleaned of any debris that is accumulated.

Before putting the new key, compare the pipe connections to new keys. If the old keys are longer than the new ones, then you will need an adapter to install.

Installing a bathtub.
Using two wooden floorboards underfoot, place the tub in the desired position. The boards serve to spread the weight of the bath around the area of the table instead of focusing all the weight on his little legs. The next goal is to make sure the tub is level. This can be achieved by checking and correcting the leveling feet of the bath until it is fine.

To install the keys, set the longer end of the connector to the appropriate pipeline by a joint compression, then do the same with the other keys. Turn on water supply and collate all connections and tubing for leaks and adjust if necessary. Fill the bathtub with water and also collate the overflow pipe works well. Finally, locate the panels of the bath as described in the manufacturer’s instructions. The paving and sealing around the bath should be done after the bath has been used at least once, as this may set the final position.

Putting new keys.
If the tails of the new keys are plastic, then you need a plastic connector to prevent damage to the threads. The end of a connector may be placed on the plastic tail of the key and the other end will provide a connection to existing supply lines.

If you need to install a key combination, then you need to reduce the connectors that connect the new pipes from 10 mm to 15 mm pipes.

Then, place the key in the hole mounted inside the tub making sure the washers are in place between the keys of the basin. Lock the keys in place with the nuts provided by the manufacturer. Once the keys are locked in place, the pipes that come with the game can be connected to the tails of the keys. The keys can be connected using corrugated copper pipe or connectors standard keys. The type of design should be connected first to the ends of the keys, pressing them with your hands. Water pipes can then be connected to the other end. Then you should be able to adjust both ends with a wrench after they’ve been connected.

Paving around the tub.
In the area where the tub touches the tile, it is necessary to seal the joints with a little silicon sealant. This is important because the joints can move enough to break a rigid seal, causing the water to penetrate the wall between the tub and tiles, leading to complications with moisture and leaks into the apartment below.

You can choose from a variety of colorful sealant to use. They are sold in tubes and cartridges, and are able to seal the joints of up to 3 mm wide. If you have to seal something bigger than that, you can put some rolled up wet newspaper or a piece of rope. Remember to fill the bathtub with water before sealing, to allow the movement of the bathtub in use to give you a greater sense of how to work. The sealant can break easily if you do not take into account the natural movement of the tub.

Alternatively, the setting of ceramic tiles or quadrants can be used on the axes of the tub. You can also use plastic strips that are easy to cut to the desired size, and are also readily available in any market. It is recommended to seal the tiles using water resistant adhesives.
